"Searching for a match".From Privacy series
Ink, pen. 1992. 17,5" x 12".
A turtle, an elephant or a snail are symbols of sluggishness. They do not fly in reality; whereas a hybrid of a butterfly and a snake is obviously an exotic creature.
However strange and exotic, misshapen or undefined someone was, he all the same can find a match for himself. This racing snail, this rushing turtle, this supersonic elephant, and the snake-butterfly or this writing creature - "handileg" - all of them are in a feverish search of somebody similar. Looking for a match itself makes sense, because it is senseless to sit and think that " I am so unlike anybody It is impossible to understand me, and consequently I cannot be understood ". Even if they (or we) find nothing, this searching for a match is valuable in itself.
